Auditions Announced

Script development is well under way and we have information about our auditions

Here’s the blurb:

We are looking for 5 actors (3f, 2m – age range – 20-50 years old) for their second production ‘Putting Words in My Mouth’ which will be performed as part of Arches Live 2011 (Mid-September – Early October).

The performance is a exploration of our own stories about food, memory and family, while exploring some of the more general arguments about the ethics and impact of eating animals, and eating, in general. The play takes the form of several dinner parties that are happening all at once, and we will invite the audience to gather with us at the dinner table, as each character tells their story.

Auditions will be held on:
Tuesday 19th July: 7-9pm
and
Thursday 21st July: 7-9pm
in Room B4 in The Arches, Argyle St, Glasgow

Please come along to either audition time to be considered. The audition will take the form of a workshop, so there is no need to prepare anything. We will be asking you to participate in some simple games, a few improvisation tasks and work with excerpts from the text.

Rehearsals will begin at the end of July on various evenings. In August, rehearsal will take place on Sunday afternoons, Monday evenings and Tuesdays evenings. By September, we will be rehearsing about three evenings a week. Please strongly consider your availability for August and September before committing to the auditioning process. If you are unsure about your availability, please come along to the audition and discuss it with us.

As we are just starting out as a theatre company, we realistically cannot commit to paying anyone for their participation in this project. We realise that this is not best practice, considering the amount of time you will be expected to give to the project, but we have very little to play with and we hope you will be understanding.

If you have any other questions prior to the audition, please don’t hesitate to contact us at makeshift.broadcast@gmail.com. If you are unable to make either audition time then we will do our best to accommodate you, but please understand that other arrangements cannot always be made.

We are looking for an Asst. Director and an Asst. Stage Manager to be involved in this project. If you are interested, please email makeshift.broadcast@gmail.com, detailing any previous experience, and we will arrange to meet up with you for a wee chat!

Thanks very much,

MB xx
